====== Installing ====== ===== Browser edition ===== Nothing to install: open https://retro.theiguru.au/brokenseal/play/ in a recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Keyboard, mouse and touch all work. The music starts at the first key press or click, because browsers require that. **Full screen** is on the bar at the top of the page (or press F11). On a touch screen, typing a name opens the browser's own text box. ===== Windows ===== - Download ''BrokenSeal-0.6.1-x64.msi'' from https://retro.theiguru.au/brokenseal/ and run it. It installs for your user only, so no administrator password is needed, and adds The Broken Seal to the Start menu and the desktop. - The installer is not code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you first: choose **More info**, then **Run anyway**. The Windows edition is built and tested under Wine. If something doesn't work on your Windows PC, please say so (see [[brokenseal:online#contact|Contact]]). To upgrade, run the new installer: it replaces the old version and keeps your saves. To remove it, use **Settings > Apps**. ===== Linux ===== - Download ''brokenseal_0.6.1_amd64.deb'' and install it: sudo apt install ./brokenseal_0.6.1_amd64.deb - Start it from the Games menu, or run ''brokenseal''. The package is for 64-bit Debian, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Mint and other Debian-based systems. Installing a newer package upgrades the old one. On Linux the music plays through ''pw-play'', ''paplay'' or ''aplay'', whichever is installed. Set ''BROKENSEAL_MUTE=1'' to start without sound. ===== Checking a download ===== ''SHA256SUMS'' on the downloads page lists the checksum of each file. On Linux: sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS --ignore-missing
